A comprehensive and compassionate look into the major issues surrounding drug and alcohol abuse-from their causes and symptoms to their lethal consequences and treatment options.

Not the book most used in schools, but in real life (I've been a pattern maker for 25+ years). Edit 9/2/13: I wrote and posted this review for Handford's Pattern GRADING book. 4.25 stars. Bonnie Shimko has mastered the art of storytelling in her Letters in the Attic. But unlike Emma Peel or Wonder Woman, she doesn't possess any extraordinary talents - well, outside of dogged determination and a wicked sense of humor.Lizzy is the heroine/female protagonist of Bonnie Shimko's novel, "Letters in the Attic." She's caught between being an adult - acting as a mother to her mother - and being an adolescent, trying to fit in with her peers, dealing with feelings of love for the first time.Shimko has done a great job of making Lizzy a real person, a character with depth. Don't by as the comploete history of Pan Am; it's like cliff notes for an airline. A lot of this could be tracked down through the literature.. With no solutions and no examples on how to do these problems they tend to be confusing and do not aid in the understanding of the course material.. I haven't love a storybook heroine that much since Jo in Little Women.Letters in the Attic is an engaging, quick read. Imagine being a ladder. I'll keep it as reference material when I'm looking for more detail.
